Fed up? Your inner revolutionary gets a wake up call.

Blood is boiling in some of us as we push hard against the prison doors. Uranus the mythological god of lightning is at the tail end of 7 years in fiery and rebellious Aries. He lit the fires for the Arab Spring in 2011.

Expect great heroic acts of courage -with a side order of impulsiveness- from not being able to stand it one more day! Hard on our nervous system if we try to repress our frustration. We want to insist on some rather drastic changes in the social order/disorder.

Tensions are the harbingers of a turning point. Now they’re coming from an authority who is Imposing heavy burdens that restrict our freedoms. Authority can be bosses, laws, parents, and especially the dictator living inside our skulls.

How can astrology help? The consistent patterns in the canopy of stars overhead gives us a map that has guided sailors at sea, explorers in the wilderness, wise men on camels and any of us who are lost in a place that is not our Home. As we looked up, the importance of certain stars stood out. We began to tell stories about them. Attributing meaning to these stars came as a way to explain the unexplainable. To alay our fears of the unknown. To have faith in an orderly universe. The stories stuck, as the projections of our collective consciousness.

Who doesn’t look to the Moon at night for inspiration, for the moonglow of romance? Just as the Moon reflects the light of the Sun into our darkest hours, reminding us that the light is never absent even when we can’t see it, so do we reflect the light of our Creator into the darkness of other minds.

“How did the rose ever open its heart and give to this world all of its beauty? It felt the encouragement of Light against its being; otherwise we all remain too frightened.” Hafez

February 4th, a New Moon 1:04 PM PST [at apogee, farthest away from Earth] is in Aquarius. The Moon is cheek to cheek with the Sun--could be romantic, in a cool headed way. This New Moon occurs at 5:03 AM, February 5th in Beijing, marking the beginning of the Chinese New Year of the wild Boar. These swine are wild because they’re uncastrated males who know what they want and stop at nothing! Even so, they say it’s a yin earth year of good fortune.

The extreme polarities of life on planet Earth got our attention last week when a pinched polar vortex dipped into the US and poured freezing cold air down the middle corridor. It’s a reminder to me of the extremes of duality we juggle every day, until we’re sick from riding such pendulums.

January opened 2019 with up close and personal pair of eclipses on January 5th and 20th that forced into the open the the abuse of power in any form--Treacherous greed, political chicanery, criminality, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse--

Capricorn dominates the scene for 2019. Sheriff Saturn and Pluto lord of the underworld are closing the gap between them as they march to their meetup in December 2019.

The danger of these two powerful energies colliding, is that Sheriff Saturn will try to  impose restrictions on Pluto's Tremendous evolutionary Energies. Any attempt by Saturn or by your own self to suppress  this shift will bring explosive even violent reactions against the limitations.

Many of us feel tired, if we are trying to keep pace with the intense shifts occurring now. Better to rest more. Like syncing with the Moon’s monthly cycle, Mother Earth suggests this is a time for hibernating-- basically it’s smart energy conservation!

Ask yourself...Where in my life do I need to shrug off heavy responsibilities? Look for places in your life where you know you are spread too thin. That's where a crisis will occur that forces you to let go.

You’re in the perfect place at the perfect time. You may have to see this in hindsight. But you can count on Jupiter in fiery Sagittarius to boost faith in yourself and to see the shifts as a great adventure.

Follow that Mountain Goat!

Capricorn's offering assistance with necessary limits and boundaries when it comes to:

  • our economy

  • the fair use of power

  • the integrity of doing what you say you'll do

This is the path to abundance in 2019.

Pairs of Eclipses connect January 2019 with January 2020

Eclipses follow each other two-by-two.

The 1st Qtr. Moon square on 1/13/19 in Aries is in-between Solar and Lunar Eclipses:

  • New Moon Solar Eclipse  January 5th, 2019  in mid-Capricorn is the beginning cycle of 2019. We have a #5 planet cluster in Capricorn: Mercury, Saturn, Moon, Sun, Pluto and South Node.

  • Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse  January 20th, 2019  in zero degrees of Lioness Leo. This Moon is opposing the ivory tower intellect of the Aquarius Sun. Romantic blessings for you relationships come with Venus paired with Jovial Jupiter in a fire trine with Mars in Aries. Loads of passion--about everything. Mars is in exact tense square with Sheriff Saturn is a fight of some sort--two warriors who refuse to back off or compromise!

Their Matching Pair will be:

  • A New Moon Solar Eclipse December 25th 2019 in the sign of Capricorn. Again it’s a #5 planet cluster in Capricorn:  Moon, Sun, Jupiter, South node, Saturn, and Pluto.

  • A Lunar Eclipse Full Moon January 10th, 2020, in late Cancer also has a #5 planet cluster in Capricorn:  South node, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto all in Capricorn.

Where is that cluster of mountain goats taking us?

To the infamous Saturn/Pluto conjunction of January 12th, 2020. Old structures crumble in an earthquake fashion that changes the economic landscape of the world forever. This is the really big climax of Sheriff Saturn's stern sobriety checkpoints and Pluto’s ambitious drive for power. These resulting transformations have been building since December of 2017.

Like the Berlin Wall, anything we’re pursuing that is out of integrity with who we truly are will crumble and fall

Astrology Weather Forecasts

We’re in the Full Moon illumination phase of the lunar cycle that begin with the New Moon Solar Eclipse August 11th in Leo fire. The illumination check point is the Pisces Full Moon August 26th in the oceanic waters of Pisces.

Restless and Impatient with Restraints

The key player on the Zodiac stage right now is Warrior Mars in humanitarian Aquarius. He's finishing up his retrograde phase while in a battle with Uranus the god of lightning.

This is a struggle within us, a chafing at the bit like thoroughbred racehorses in the starting gate. We're restless and impatient with the restraints, with the gate barring our way. And just at the moment we are furiously about to breach it with shear force, it opens.

When Mars is retrograde, we’re called to cease fighting everyone and everything. Or at the very least, we take the fight inside.

  1. Mars entered Aquarius on the auspicious date of May 15th, 2018.

  2. Mars is retrograde in Aquarius from June 26th to August 28th, 2018.

  3. Because of the added retrograde period, Mars will be in Aquarius five months: May 15th to November 15th, 2018 --except for 1 month of the retrograde period when he’ll back into Capricorn, August 12th to September 10th, 2018, when he returns to Aquarius.

  4. There’s an echo from May 27th, 2018. We are retracing our steps and getting a do-over for what was a conflictual mess, or something left undone, or there was fear about taking action.

Jupiter’s an evangelist for a spiritual way of life

While Jupiter is still in the investigative waters of Scotland-yard Scorpio, he is parting the seas of Illusion for us. We can see clearly the visionary possibilities inspired by Neptune. This Jupiter-Neptune harmonious trine lifts our spiritual horizons.

The other interesting part of this metaphor about the seas parting, is that it will reveal what's at the bottom of the ocean. Agents of destruction who have been relying on the cover of darkness to maintain their illusions, to hide their secrets, have a sudden exposure to the blaring light of day.

Jupiter makes this harmonious trine with Visionary Neptune three times:

  1. December 2nd, 2017

  2. May 25th, 2018

  3. August 19th, 2018

All our judgements arise from distortions of perception

The quest for meaning in our lives is informed by the ego’s secret motives rising to the surface of conscious awareness. The self-centeredness of the ego is maintained by constant judgement, better-than or less-than. However, as Jupiter and Neptune together show us this delusion of duality, we see the truth behind the veil.

The truth is, we cannot judge. It's not whether or not we should judge. We cannot judge because we cannot see the whole picture.

Happy Birthday to Virgos, the CEOs of the zodiac

We're rolling up our sleeves to help and heal. The Sun moves into Virgo earth Wednesday August 22nd. This is one of about three aspects saying, “time to do the work!”

We're Willing to get our hands dirty. We're ready to dig into the dirt-- the gardens of minds-- and prepare for a booming harvest.

The work of harvesting the fruits of our labors, always comes during the astrological month of Virgo. Looking toward that horizon, the Harvest Moon comes on September 24th, the first Full Moon after the Autumn Equinox.

All of this is building throughout the week, taking us to the Full Moon illumination of it on Sunday August 26th, when the Virgo Sun opposes the Pisces Moon. This will be on the eve of Mars in Aquarius finishing his retrograde period that began June 26th. He’s shifting into forward gear on Monday the 27th.

Mercury Retrograde

THE FIRST ROCK from the Sun is Messenger Mercury. Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, the 3rd and 6th houses of the zodiac. He’s a trickster and roving reporter--the only Olympian god who can travel through all realms, transporting souls and messages. He carries the stream of mantras, prayers and supplications to a power greater than our ego selves.

  1. Mercury has been in the sign of Leo the lionhearted since June 28th.

  2. Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Leo from July 25th to  August 18th.

  3. Because of his retrograde phase, Mercury will be staying in Leo from June 28th to September 5th.

Mercury the trickster would show us with his delph antics, debates and sleight of hand that the brain in our skull is a data storage facility. It is not our true mind.

Mind is the matrix. Mind is the energy field, the force, that exists within and without the body.

We are part of a Universal Mind that connects us to all living things--to each other. We recognize and communicate our unity through our collective consciousness.

Lights. Camera. Lots of Mars Action!

Warrior Mars is on a humanitarian mission. He’s championing the cause of social justice and equal rights for all. He’ll have an extended stay in Aquarius to accomplish this. The archetypal god of war has begun a powerful pilgrimage, but not to the holy land. Rather he’s teaching us that the ground we stand on now is holy because we are.

The itch for change + the god of war = fierce revolutions. Particularly in technology as a means to solve global problems.

The energy of Mars in Aquarius converts anger to fierceness. His method is teamwork and organization inspired by a brilliant intelligence. We can achieve even the loftiest humanitarian goals through ingenious means.

Here’s the timeline:

  • Mars entered Aquarius on the auspicious May 15th, 2018 New Moon in Taurus. It was the same day Urgent Uranus finished 7 years in Aries, and made Taurus his new home for the next 7 years.

  • Mars goes retrograde in Aquarius from June 26th to August 28th, 2018. This warrior planet has a retrograde episode every 26 months.

  • Because of his retrograde motion, Mars will be in Aquarius 5 months: May 15th to November 15th, 2018 --except for 1 month retrograde when he’ll back into Capricorn, August 12th to September 10th, 2018. He’ll return to Aquarius September 10th, 2018.

  • Mars will get back to where he started from (9 degrees Aquarius) on October 10th, 2018. That date marks the completion of the entire retrograde phase which began June 26th. This time will have an echo from November 2016, the previous cycle of Mars in Aquarius. That was the month when Trump was elected President of the United States.

Let’s stay alert. We might get a dose of Mars as the archetype of war and violence. Remembering that when Mars was at his closest orbit to Earth in 2003, President Bush declared war on Iraq.

What does it mean?

Action-driven Mars will inspire the fighter and crusader in us to take a more assertive stance on issues that have heart and meaning. This warlike energy, when it falls into the lower mental realms of the ego’s monkey mind, can turn into aggression and violence. Mars is afterall the god of war!

Conflict or Compromise?

In the air sign of Aquarius, Warrior Mars will go on a pilgrimage. Not in the individualistic style of the Peace Pilgrim, but rather as a protector of the downtrodden, the hungry and weary. He will have the Peace Pilgrim’s same determination and fixed sense of purpose, but he will resist compromise and will not back down from a conflict.

Anger or fierceness? Aggressive or assertive?

Warrior Mars has his home in fiery Aries, which fills his style of leadership with instant-on independent action. He picks up the Olympic Torch and runs with it. He never never ever looks back!

Our approach to conflict, how we handle hostility and express our anger, will require rethinking, regrouping and reintegrating. Mars does not have a diplomatic bone in his warrior’s body. Peace talks are not his thing! Takes too much time!

Answer the Call to Action: Create a Nervous Breakthrough

Look for heightened manifestations of Warrior Mars energy July 27th, 2018, during the Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Aquarius. Mars is side by side with the Moon in opposition to the Aries Sun. All are in a tense relationship with Urgent Uranus, the god of lightning. Restlessness and discontent will jangle our nerves, especially if we are resisting the call to action.

The Road Ahead Is Paved With Abundance

We are living in exciting times. Despite the negative nature of most headline news, things are getting better! If you need convincing, read Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think.

You get more of what you have by giving it away! There’s an unusually courageous time ahead of us for social change and equal rights. Abundance in the age of technology may look very different, and will shift our paradigms from getting and greed to giving and sharing.

Could this be the manifestation of The Age of Aquarius? Let the Sunshine in!

2018 Horoscope

2018 Time’s Up

The shift has shifted!

Judith Royal, Archetypal Astrology

The Sheriff's Back in Town

With the march into Capricorn by Saturn in December 2017, you can expect sobriety checkpoints at every crossroad. It's not about alcohol per se, it's about sobering up from the illusion that you thought you were driving along life's path with reasonable attentiveness. Only to find out you've been asleep at the wheel. Sheriff Saturn is serious enough by himself, but he's going to join up with the mythic lord of the underworld--Pluto. Pluto's territory includes prisons for the "crime" of refusing to change, in spite of the suffering it causes. Of refusing to look at the impoverished and unwell.  The last time this duo got together was 1982.

Ringing in our ears are the speeches of powerful women like Michelle Obama on October 17th, 2016, when she pleaded with us not to vote for Trump. “Enough is enough!” Her outrage was about a man who brags about sexually abusing women being able to run for President of the United States of America. #MeToo and Oprah Winfrey and Time’sUp voices are rising.

Since that time, Donald Trump has played his role as the maddenly impervious bully perfectly. It woke us up.

It began while Saturn was in Sagittarius (before December 19th, 2017) so initially it had the energy of the crusader, the evangelist for truth.

Now that Saturn has moved into Capricorn, we have clear-seeing from the mountaintop. We have the emotional objectivity to climb above the apparent chaos and see the light beyond.

Our minds are painfully trying to digest the tweets and speeches and actions of a man, supposedly the head of the Free World, who is without integrity and doesn’t know it’s missing.

I'm sure you've heard the phrase the “sin of double ignorance.” Not knowing that you don't know. Black Swan events, like Trump's winning the presidency, can show us where we thought we knew what was going on and then we’re shown we had no idea what was really happening!

We have rotten barrels! No use blaming the apples. After we get through blaming the Russians, and I’m not suggesting they’re innocent, we hopefully will look at the integrity of our own country, our corrupted systems.

At first the noise of the crumbling of our brittle and rigid structures may override the quieter voices of truth. But Serious and Stern Saturn has come home to his most powerful placement in the sign of Capricorn. We are guaranteed to have new structures in our organizations within the next two and a half years. The abuse and misuse of power in business, in politics and unfortunately in our own living rooms is on trial. In the supreme courts of fairness and social justice.

Next, the heavens are going to set beaconing fires on that mountaintop. Beginning May 15th, 2018, the god of lightning will move into the otherwise stable sign of Taurus for 7 years.

Two  big sky happenings set the stage for January 29th - February 4th, 2018

#1 The Supermoon Lunar Eclipse in Leo this Wednesday January 31st, dominates the astrological weather for this week.

This Blood Moon has Leo’s fire opposing the cool-headed Aquarius Sun. Fire opposing Air = Creative Combustion!

Leo is painting the sky with lots of drama and you will experience a greater emotional death than usual.

Romantic love is center stage and ready to show you something new about your relationship style. It will be about loyalty and long-term commitment. This is a Full Moon which means illumination of something you haven't seen before.

It’s also a Blue Moon which has no astrological significance other than it’s the 3rd in and most powerful in a trilogy = December 3, 2017; January 1st and January 31st.

Californians and viewers in western Canada will be treated to the total eclipse phase from start to finish, though the penumbral shadow will pass after the Moon has set. The umbral eclipse begins at 3:48 a.m. Pacific Time. At 4:51 a.m., totality will begin, with best viewing between about 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. local time. The totality phase ends about 6:05 a.m.

#2 Your Vim & Vigor ramped up! Did you notice how your get-stuff-done has kicked into high gear?

  • Mars has dried out from his deep dive in Scorpio that began December 9th. While in Scorpio he forced issues to the surface about the right use or abuse of power.

  • Beginning last Friday, January 26th, and roaring onward until March 18th, Warrior Mars is in fiery and adventurous Sagittarius. Mars will make combustible creativity with the Aquarius Sun until February 18th. We are ready to fight for what we believe in and we're going to pull out our soap boxes to do it. There'll be nothing quiet or hesitant about the way we do things.

  • The Lunar Trigger. The Moon acts as a trigger for the cycles of the larger planets. Put it on your calendar to watch for the Moon in Sagittarius running into Mars in Sagittarius on February 8th and 9th. If you don't waste the energy getting totally pissed off with someone, this will be a vigorous wind in your sails.

  • Big Change in Direction -- Mars has the god of lightning on his side. This is creating rebellious urges inside and out. This need for something brand-new gains momentum as It peeks on March 11th.
